Israel is taking steps to secure the nuclear plants at Dimona and Nahal Sorek, near Jerusalem, ahead of a possible war with Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrilla fighters based in Lebanon.
The Israeli Ha’aretz daily newspaper quoted officials from the Israel Atomic Energy Commission who said that although a strike on a nuclear facility is unlikely to harm Israel’s population, such an attack could constitute a significant propaganda achievement for the group.
According to the report, “numerous” actions are being taken to reinforce the two plants.
More than 120,000 missiles of varying ranges are pointed at Israel from across her northern border in Lebanon. It is believed that Israel’s two nuclear reactors are viewed as prime targets by Hezbollah and its patron, Iran, as well as the Gaza-based Hamas terrorist group.
