Republican candidate Donald Trump told ABC on Sunday that a peace deal with the PA is in Israel’s interests, and that he plans to broker just such a deal for his Israeli friends. Trump said this is what he would tell his AIPAC conference audience on Monday night in Washington. Hillary speaks Monday morning. The lineup Monday night is: Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Donald Trump, and House Speaker Paul Ryan—who may end up the winner of a brokered convention in Cleveland this summer.

“A deal would be in Israel’s interests,” Trump said, and noted, as he often does, that “there is nobody more pro-Israel than I am.” He also said he didn’t know even “one Jewish person that doesn’t want to have a deal,” and so, sure enough, “If I win, I’m going to be giving that a very good shot.”

Now you know.

In the past, Trump insisted he would be “a neutral guy” kind of negotiator between Israel and the PA, whereas Ted Cruz promised to be 100 percent on Israel’s side.

Also in the past, Trump would not promise to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which was refreshing, since every single candidate who appears on the AIPAC stage says it, only to reverse themselves even before they win. Barack Obama holds the record on reneging on the Jerusalem embassy promise — 24 hours.

On his official website, Trump has only one foreign policy position, regarding US-China Trade Reform — basically by bullying China into submission (can we watch?). The rest is Immigration Reform (make Mexico pay for the wall); Healthcare Reform (Congress must act); Veterans Administration Reforms (make the VA great again); Tax Reform (simplify the tax code); and if all else fails, there are always those Second Amendment rights. But nothing about the Middle East.

So, other than his promise to deal and bargain and be even-handed and keep the embassy in Tel Aviv and loving Jews we don’t have Trump on the record with anything of substance anywhere. The world will be listening with bated breath come Monday night – and the candidate may still manage to say nothing.
