A World Without G-d

The May 19 issue of The Jewish Press reported on an Israeli delegation visiting the Polish parliament (“Polish and Israeli Flags Above the Ghetto,” cover story). Likud MK Amit Halevi was right on target with his explanation of the Holocaust and a contemporary world seemingly turned upside down. Halevi asserts: “The answer is because (they) had reached the point of contempt for G-d. Only a godless ideology could plan and carry out the extermination of a whole people. This is what happens to the greatest humanist and liberalists when they don’t have a G-d. This is because liberalism frees them in practice from any transcendent moral obligation.” The article describes Halevi’s message as a reminder for humanity to share in the “…struggle against those who aim to create a neo-Marxist worldview bereft of identity…”

Halevi’s message resonates with Aleksander Solzhenitsyn’s explanation for the disastrous results of the Russian Revolution in terms of human suffering: “…if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people…’ Men have forgotten G-d; that’s why all this has happened.'”

President Biden’s policies are destroying America by design. Loose borders, energy “dependence,” inflation, weaponization of government agencies, transgender and racist CRT indoctrination of our youth – all of these policies are indeed intentionally destroying America.

In Las Vegas, the house never loses, the games are fixed that way. Under capitalism, there are economic fluctuations and market shifts which can endanger one’s fortunes. Under communism, the “game” is fixed. Those who shut up and obey are rewarded with their place on top of the oligarchic pyramid. The masses are economically enslaved at the bottom of the pyramid, where they no longer have any choice but to obey. As Thucydides’ maxim proclaims: “The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.” Even in America, investigations into political corruption are either made up or there is a “cover up,” depending on whether you are to the political left or right.

The message to voters is clear. The political left doesn’t hate Trump the man; they hate Trump and faith-based voters who symbolize moral values, capitalism, free speech, freedom to petition the government, free elections with voter ID and paper ballots on election day, and the freedom to bear arms. The “culture” war is really a “religious” war. Human history is a story of G-d’s efforts to mold humanity into a community that recognizes its Creator and its role in ascending to holiness. What we are witnessing today is mankind’s worshiping “freedom” to do whatever they please in a world void of Divine moral standards.

Unity in Diversity

Regarding Dr. Chani Miller’s review of Reclaiming Dignity, by Bracha Poliakoff and Rabbi Anthony Manning (“Tznius Is Not Just About Skirt Length,” May 19):

It seems to me that women have a choice in how they want to cover up, as long as they conform to their community’s standards relating to wigs and tzniut, the length of skirts and sleeves. In some families, three sisters may marry three men with different outlooks from different communities, but at the holiday table they discuss Torah. The woman might be wearing different dresses and skirts in different lengths but they are all religious and all cover up in tzniut fashion.

At weddings, the woman who wear pants during the week are respectful of the tzniut laws and wear high-necked gowns and dresses with long sleeves.

We must accept each other and not be so judgmental. As with religious levels and dress codes, there are many tzniut choices.

Policy Potholes

President Biden is back from Japan, and there’s not much to report about the G-7 shindig. The free world is now reduced to reacting to the totalitarians: Putin, Xi, and the mullahs of Iran. Not much proactive strategy in play.

It is clear that the new axis of evil does not fear NATO and, specifically, the USA. However, the bad guys should understand they will be severely damaged if their violent vision continues, as Putin has learned in Ukraine.

Donald Trump posits that totalitarian aggression would have been contained had he been re-elected. Impossible to prove that, but the record shows that Trump had a much calmer foreign policy than Biden does.

Trump uses flattery and deal-making strategies in all his policy transactions. President Biden uses … well, I don’t know exactly what he brings to the negotiating table. Weak countries like Mexico continue to damage America, and it certainly doesn’t look like Obrador fears any consequences.

American voters rarely cast ballots over foreign policy. Vietnam was the exception to that, and the Iraq War mobilized dissent as well.

But today, the Democrats and Mr. Biden are in trouble because they’ve botched domestic policy.

And the totalitarians are watching.

Budget The Floating Billions

More needs to be looked at besides House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s idea of taking back billions of unused CARE COVID-19 Emergency Relief funds. President Biden and Congress need to look at every federal government agency’s unspent carryover funding from previous fiscal years. There should be a forensic audit for all agency grant programs. Any funds from inactive grants, projects and programs not being used should also be reprogrammed to reduce our $31.4 trillion and growing national debt.

Who knows how many more billions could be found and returned to the Treasury Department? All future federal grant programs should include a requirement for recipients to submit a cash draw-down plan and sunset date for completion. Any unused funds after a reasonable amount of time should automatically be returned to the Treasury Department.

Government, the private sector, and citizens must make difficult financial decisions on how to use existing resources. Americans prioritize their own family budgets. They make the hard choices on how existing household financial resources will be spent. The President and Congress should do likewise.
