Thousands of residents were evacuated from their homes as a result of the heavy fires that raged throughout the country beginning on Wednesday. After hours of fighting the flames, the firefighters managed to control most of the fires. About 200 homes were evacuated in the Arab communities of Arara, Barta’a and Katzir in Wadi Ara. A large fire broke out in the Beit Shemesh area, and the moshavim Rogelit and Aderet were evacuated. In Katzir, firefighters helped teams that operated on the ground. The Technion in Haifa was evacuated due to a fire in the Check Post and Nesher.
