Israeli Border Guard Police and IDF military police have arrested a driver suspected of transporting a suspect, his wife, a young child and a baby after a search of their vehicle turned up M-16 assault rifles and ammunition.

The incident took place Tuesday at the A-Zaim crossing in the Jerusalem envelope. Two of the occupants in the car, both residents of Anata in their 20s, were arrested and transferred to security personnel for interrogation.

During routine questioning, the security forces asked the driver to open the trunk of the car, where they noticed a suitcase.

In addition to clothing and personal effects, the soldiers discovered the M-16s, 15 cartridges and hundreds of 5.56 mm bullets.

A police sapper was summoned to inspect the weapons before they were confiscated by police.
