Gilboa-Jalame checkpoint in Samaria.

An Arab terrorist opened fire at security personnel stationed at the Gilboa checkpoint in Samaria on Highway 60, north of Jenin and south of Afula, on Friday morning.

The shooter approached the checkpoint on foot and began firing at personnel from a distance of several dozen meters away, according to Israel’s Defense Ministry.

Security personnel returned fire and the attacker fled, according to the report.

It is not known whether or not the terrorist was wounded in the shootout. IDF soldiers and other security forces are searching for the attacker.

No Israelis were reported wounded in the attack.
