U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas (R). (Archive 2012)

Kredo’s article focused on Pickering’s suggestion. After all, having a former Ambassador suggest to a sitting Secretary of State that she clandestinely provoke protests against an ally of the United States is indeed more eye-catching than cajoling billionaires to put together (yet another) huge bundle of cash for the world’s greatest recipients of international aid. Kredo’s article did not mention Clinton’s joyous response.

Or perhaps Guttman did his homework and read the actual emails themselves – available online – and decided not to include Clinton’s response. Her response to Slaughter does deflate the not-so-subliminal message of Guttman’s article: that Clinton would be “good for the Jews.”
