Shas Sephardic Party Spiritual leader Rabbi Shalom Cohen, age 87, was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem on Sunday after he was injured in a fall.

“Rabbi and Yeshiva Dean Shalom Cohen was admitted to the hospital today after reporting pains in his leg following a fall,” a Shas party spokesperson said in a statement.

“In accordance with the advice of the doctors during consultations with Minister [Aryeh] Deri, it was decided the rabbi will remain in the hospital overnight for a series of examinations,” the statement continued.

Deri accompanied the rabbi to the medical center and remained with him at the hospital during the examination and subsequent treatment.
