Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics is reporting a slight increase in the average salary for some Israelis, although many are still bringing home paychecks that are below the national average.

According to the CBS report, the average salary in Israel stands at NIS 11,004 ($3,163) per month effective July 2019, a 3.4 percent increase as compared with the same period in 2018.

There has also been a 1.8 percent increase in the number of salaried workers in the country, totaling 3,812,000 employees for the period.

The information and communications constitutes the highest-paid industry, with an average monthly salary of NIS 22,122 ($6,358). But high-tech workers brought home an average monthly salary of NIS 23,375 ($6,719) – an increase of four percent over the previous year – with science researchers and developers making monthly salaries as high as NIS 25,517 ($7,334).

Some 66.5 percent of salaried workers, however, were employed in jobs where the average paycheck is below the national average. Among those were healthcare and social services workers, who brought home an average monthly salary of NIS 9,680 ($2,782).
