Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump meet in New York, Sept. 25, 2016.

According to a report published Tuesday (May 16) by The New York Times, the classified information allegedly ‘leaked’ by U.S. President Donald Trump to Russian officials during a meeting last week at the White House was supplied by Israel.

The president shared the details of intelligence about a terrorist plot being planned by Da’esh, the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Russian ambassador during the meeting, according to the report.

The newspaper said that Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, made it clear in an emailed statement that there would be no breach in the counterterrorism relationship between Jerusalem and Washington.

“Israel has full confidence in our intelligence-sharing relationship with the United States and looks forward to deepening that relationship in the years ahead under President Trump,” Dermer’s statement was quoted as saying.

Israel has not commented specifically on the intelligence that was shared by President Trump.
