Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Monday with the heads of Israeli missions in the Asia-Pacific region in his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Netanyahu told the envoys that the largest markets in the world are to be found in Asia, adding that he is hoping to expand Israel’s ties with both India and China.

The prime minister and Foreign Ministry Director-General Yuval Rotem are together planning to set up two new divisions in the ministry, one each for China and for India.

Netanyahu pointed out during the meeting that a major portion of the world’s population is located in the Asia-Pacific region. “This is a rising power,” he said.
