Busby Berkeley’s Haredi Movie

Photographer Yaakov Naumi went up to a rooftop in Jerusalem to shoot these amazing images of Haredim dancing at the massive draft protest of hundred of thousands in Jerusalem.

It so reminded me of the Busby Berkeley movies from the 1930s, with elaborate musical production numbers that often involved complex geometric patterns.

Berkeley used large numbers of showgirls and props as fantasy elements in kaleidoscopic on-screen performances.

Yaakov Naumi used a bunch of Haredim.
