Residents around the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramot were asked to leave their homes on the Lag B’Omer holiday, during the day on Thursday (May 26) as a large forest fire broke out in the area.
Firefighters warned that the blaze could easily spread to their homes due to the high winds in the area, according to a statement by the Fire and Rescue service.
A fire also broke out in the area of Gush Tefen in northern Israel, forcing area officials to summon at least four fire and rescue teams to battle the blaze.
Less than 10 days ago, a large fire also broke out in a warehouse in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Givat Shaul.
The weather in Israel was warm but very dry and windy during the day, making it easy for any stray spark to ignite and erupt into a blazing fire.Hana Levi Julian
