Bloomberg News: Netanyahu Running Scared from Worldwide Boycott

Déjà vu. The “peace process’ began in 1991, when the threat of an international boycott forced Yitzchak Shamir to debate Arafat in Madrid. The same threat has Netanyahu running scared, says a columnist.
Netanyahu reportedly released terrorists to resume direct talks with the Palestinian Authority because he fears an international boycott

Netanyahu reportedly released terrorists to resume direct talks with the Palestinian Authority because he fears an international boycott

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu agreed to resume direct talks with the Palestinian Authority and meets its demand to free terrorists because he fears an international boycott that could devastate Israel’s economy and ability to defend itself, according to informed sources quoted by Bloomberg News columnist Jeffrey Goldberg.

Netanyahu “met recently with some of Israel’s leading manufacturers, who expressed their worry that their products may one day be boycotted in Europe, a worry he shares,” wrote Goldberg. “Kerry, capitalizing on this anxiety, has warned Netanyahu in recent weeks that if the current peace talks bear no fruit, Israel may soon be facing an international delegitimization campaign — in his words – ‘on steroids.’”

Goldberg quoted Israeli government sources who insisted on anonymity. The Prime Minister supposedly is afraid that an international boycott and worldwide hate of Israel theoretically would not only disrupt the economy but also would make the country vulnerable to terrorist attacks and even all-out war by Hamas and Hezbollah.

The theory is that Israeli would not be able to defend itself in the wake of condemnation that would come from the pro-Arab United Nations even if terrorists were to strike.

The European Union already has taken a step in the direction of a boycott. Last month, it issued guidelines that limit or ban funding activities in the Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria and Palestinian Authority-claimed areas of Jerusalem.

International condemnation could also weaken Israel’s ability to act against the Iranian nuclear threat, according to Goldberg, who like most foreign journalists is convinced that Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are the ultimate obstacle to peace.

Goldberg assumes that “the majority of Israelis are sensible, and they know, as Netanyahu knows, that Israel can’t exist in an entirely friendless world.”

The reasoning is based on a universal brainwash and would be flawed if not for the fact that the international media and virtually the entire world have focused on “settlements” as obstacles to peace and have totally ignored Palestinian Authority incitement and even  PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ outrageous statement that a not a single Jew would be allowed to live in a future PA state.

That kind of restriction violates the United Nations charter, but that is not of interest to anyone outside of Israel.

At Monday’s State Dept. briefing, journalists time and time again tried to convince deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf to state that settlements are “illegal,” but not one single mention was made of continued Palestinian Authority incitement and Abbas “no Jews allowed” statement.

When an Associated Press reporter says at a State Dept. briefing that “settlements are a problem that “Palestinians have with the Israelis; this is a problem that you have with the Israelis, that the Europeans have with the Israelis, that everyone but some in Israel have with the Israelis,” it is clear that Netanyahu indeed has his back against the wall.

And like Shamir in 1991, he is surrendering Israel’s right to exist rather than standing up for its right to exist. The consequences for Israel since Arafat won international recognition in the debate with Shamir have been 22 years of concessions for peace with the result of war.

Tuesday, the same day that Goldberg reported on Netanyahu’s fear of an international boycott, the Israeli Supreme Court, as expected, removed the last obstacle to freeing 12 murderers or attempted murderers  who are among thousands who have brutally and primitively murdered, kidnapped and wounded thousands of Israelis, no matter who they are and where they live. The terrorists even murdered a few Arabs with Israeli citizenship.

Kerry’s message to Netanyahu that an international boycott is in the offing is only half of the story. The other half is terror.

Netanyahu prefers to avoid an international boycott rather than face terror. The only problem is that so far, terror has struck and will strike, boycott or no boycott, until Israel does not exist.

  1. This is a very disturbing story. Here is a newsflash. What Israel faces today is no different than what it faced since 1948. There has always been and always will have anti Semitism and anti Israel sentiment. Unfortunately, this is the fact of life. This does not excuse allowing murderers to be released from Prison. There are plenty of people around the world who hate America. Would that give us the right to release terrorists who were responsible for killing Americans? I understand Israel is a small country and it would be harder to recover from an international boycott. Still, the facts are that Israel has always faced these problems and they still managed to have a vibrant economy. Another fact is money rules the world and Israel has made significant contributions in many sectors of the economy. Other countries will continue to do business with Israel because it is in their best interest to do so. Also, I would think that Netanyahu would be savvy enough to understand that what Kerry is trying to do is use any pressure tactic he can to get Netanyahu to agree to foolish decisions that benefit the Palestinians to the detriment of Israel. The bottom line is if the story is true, it indicates another example of cowardly leadership or lack thereof by Netanyahu.

ISRAEL, ASK USA TO TRIPLE ISRAEL'S IMPORTS TO USA TO OFFSET THE EUROPEAN UNION BOYCOTTS! ASK YOUR JEWISH AND CHRISTIAN SUPPORTERS IN USA TO PUSH AND PETITION FOR THE TRIPLE ISRAELI PRODUCTS IMPORTS TO SUPPORT THE ONLY DEMOCRACY AND ALLY IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

  7. Elizabeth Allweiss says:

NOT TRUE. PROBLEM IS JOHN KERRY OF USA AND MS. ASHTON IN THE UN.
ASHTON IS PRO-ISLAMIC AND ANTI-SEMITIC, ISRAEL. LOOK AT HER BODY LANGUAGE IN ALL OF HER VISITS WITH ISLAMIC LEADERS. YOU CAN SEE HER SUCKING UP TO THEM.

  8. As Mr. Kauderer points out this is disturbing news. An international boycott is a form of blackmail. This whole debacle makes a nonsense of the signings carried out in 1948, when Israel was founded. Anti-islam needs to be the byword of today. The media are not reporting enough internationally, the atrocities and killings carried out by Islam world wide, and what does Islam contribute to world economy. Abbas and his cohorts contribute nothing, simply want to take over Israel turn it into a part of a Sharia block of the middle east. OIL is the bottom line here and now Israel has OIL and gas, the damn Arabs want it, thus holding the rest of to ransom, due to our dependance on OIL. Ashton clearly isn't aware the price of OIL in Europe is subject to fluctuation on its way across the med to any destination, whoever offers the highest bid as OIL is in transit gets the delivery. There is not enough control over OIL production but then this all went to crap in 1973, then rose the Ayatollah. The EU is run by a fool in Ashton, the US by a couple of college kids and BN has his back against a wall. Frankly we'd be better off going to war on a large scale to decimate these Arab nations once and for all.

  9. Elizabeth Allweiss says:

ISRAEL NEEDS TO ASK FOR A REPLACEMENT OF JOHN KERRY IN THE NEGOTIATIONS, HE IS ANTI-SEMITIC AND TOO AGGRESSIVE WITH ISRAEL TO HANDLE THE PEACE TALKS IN A FAIR MANNER. ALSO CATHERINE ASHTON OF EU IS A BIG PROBLEM BECAUSE SHE IS STRONGLY ANTI-ISRAEL AND PRO-ISLAM, SHE IS SELLING OUT ISRAEL IN HER TALKS TO ARAB LEADERS

  10. Netanyahu should change the conversation to the correct one. In a major declaration, he should embrace the reasoning in the Levy Committee report on the legal right of Israel to all of the West Bank, state its continued willingness to give away some of it in the interests of self-determination and peace, and brand those who claim that it is occupied Arab land as anti-Semites using antisemitic double standards to judge and condemn the Jewish state. Until and unless he does this, the antisemitic international community led by Ashton and Obama will continue to whittle away all of Israel's rights and ability to defend itself, and try to strangle it economically. Just trying to appease without making a case is stupid and self-defeating, even if Netanyahu sees a Nobel prize at the end.

  11. Netanahyu has not the gonads from the blackmailing from the famished antisemits islamist Obama, Vietnam coward Kerry, Irish Witch Aston, it is time send a nuke some place the Arab World, like Yemen, than there will be a releave for Israel and the world for a long time, becouse all will respect to Israel and afraid from Israel.

  12. Lee Pagnini says:

Pres Obama and Mr Kerry are just the next fools that think the Arabs are going to change their views on hating Isreal. Even if their leaders agree on ANYTHING, the Palestinian people won't feel obligated to abide by the greement.

  13. Yechiel Baum says:

Obama and kerry come from a immoral people of anti-semites so why be surprised. Since the world needs Israeli Biotech and computer tech, the world should pay a boycott tax to Israel. Israel should also have branches in this companies to the Judea and Samaria to spread the wealth amongst all of Israel. If the world wants to boycott them as they do with food, then so be it and only the Jews will have the best computers and medicines and food, and the Arabs and their supporters starve and be with obsolete software and medicne and then we will all realize who needs who!

  14. lyleholc says:

Good article and hits the nail on the head on Obama/Kerry pressure on Israel.  They are no friends of Israel, but sadly most American Jews ironically support them as America turns increasingly fascist against its own people and Israel.  Take a moment to search the web for Amdocs and NSA spying.
