White House Presses Congress Not To Intensify Sanctions

By: JTA

The National Security Council has asked Congressmen at a White House briefing to delay passing new Iran sanctions, according to BuzzFeed.

The meeting with top staffers from congressional committees dealing with Iran sanctions was called after the Obama administration launched renewed talks this month with Iran in the wake of pledges from its newly elected president, Hassan Rouhani, to cooperate with major powers in making Iran’s nuclear program more transparent.

Administration officials have said sanctions will remain in place until Iran tangibly shows it is abiding by U.N. Security Council resolutions and suspending uranium enrichment, but some congressional leaders, in line with the policy advised by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, want to intensify existing sanctions as a means of increasing leverage over Iran.

  1. Our current president has no concept of effective foriegn policy. He has no agenda except to vacilate. Our alies can't depend on him. Suddenly we are making nice nice with our enemies and show little concerne with the effect on our long term friends. While Mr Obama is working on a relationship with Iran,he is enabling them to continue perfecting nucleor capability. Every move he has made on the international stage has been detrimental to the security of the USA and friends such as Israel. If you look at his treatment of Israel visa vi the Palestineans, it is obvious he sees Israel as just a Problem.

  2. Don't trust Obama. Obama is a Muslim supremacist. He has usurped the Presidency of the United States during a time of war. Iran is NOT backing down on it's nuclear goals. Israel must be pro-active in light of the Criminal Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization that the Obama faux 'administration' is. 3. Stuart, Obama is a traitor and a spy under U.S. Law. He is not now,nor has he ever been the bona-fide.legally elected President of the United States of America.
