In anticipation of U.S. President Barack Obama visit to Israel at the end of this month, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering a significant package of gestures to the Palestinians, Maariv reports. The security system has submitted to Netanyahu its recommendations for goodwill gestures, with the stated proviso that these would not endanger the PM’s own political future.
Sources in Netanyahu’s circle explained that the gestures are of a political nature, intended to ease the hardships the Palestinian Authority is facing, generating a positive public image for Israel at a relatively low political cost.
A similar package has previously been discussed at least in part in talks between Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair and Netanyahu. At the time, the Prime Minister refused these ideas.
One of the gestures in discussion is a specific transfer of land from Area C in the West Bank (which is under full Israeli control) to an Area A status (full Palestinian control). This concerns the transfer of the access roads planned to serve the new city of Rawabi, the first Palestinian planned city under PA rule, near Birzeit and Ramallah, with 10,000 homes, with a population of 40,000. Another road that would be turned over to full Palestinian control serves the industrial park outside Tulkarm.
An additional gesture under review is the approval of master plans for ten Palestinian settlements in the Israeli-controlled Area C. These are all Palestinian neighborhoods which today are considered illegal and concerning which the Civil Administration has issued demolition orders.
If these master plans are approved, these settlements will be connected to the infrastructure and all construction there will be approved.
Two additional gestures are the release of a significant number of Fatah prisoners, arrested before the signing of the Oslo Accords; and the transfer of light ammunition to the Palestinian security forces.
The Israeli political system is expecting that Obama will be pushing to be able to announce the resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians during his visit to the Middle East. One view holds that the President will only make this announcement in Amman, following his meeting with King Abdullah.
The Prime Minister’s circle fears that Palestinian expectations of the Obama visit are too high, compared to what can be gotten immediately following the renewal of direct talks, especially when those expectations are compared to what the Israeli side is ready to give. In such a case, Palestinian disappointment may result in another deterioration of the security situation.
According to the World Tribune, Obama has demanded a timetable for an Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria.
“Obama has made it clear to Netanyahu that his visit is not about photo-ops, but the business of Iran and a Palestinian state,” a source in the PM’s office told WT. “The implication is that if Israel won’t give him something he can work with, then he’ll act on his own.”
The sources said the White House warned that Obama’s forthcoming visit could characterize U.S. relations with Israel over the next four years. They said Obama aides stressed that Congress, which approved $3.1 billion in military aid to Israel for 2013, supported the establishment of a Palestinian state as a U.S. priority.
“The Obama people are making this a litmus test of Netanyahu’s leadership and credibility,” the Israeli source said. “Obama supporters in Congress have sent Netanyahu a similar message.”

Mistake. This is the LORD'S land and giving it away will bring His wrath on the Israeli leaders. The United States will not be exempt from divine punishment because we are forcing Israel's hands to do what God does not want done with His land. Shame on us.
What a horrible thing. Obama is an insult to the American People, The Jewish People and our way of lives….AND Obama's visit is about photo-ops and his constant campaigning.
I believe that this is good news, to give something, I am not a politician and I am glad I am not, but I feel it would be much better if the gift had came from the heart not as a political move. Political moves only produce more political moves. I believe it is time to give before it is too late and The lord moves against everyone, He is not going to wait forever.

All Israeli gestures for the past 65 years have been viewed by the genocidal Arab Muslims west of the Jordan River as capitulation and admission to rights these genocidal sub-insects (who kill not for food as do insects, but for seething hatred, making them literally lower than insects) do not have. The only entity with legal right to land west of the Jordan River is the country of Israel, period. See The Balfour Declaration, San Remo Conference, 1922 Resolutions, & 1948 Israeli Civil War Victory, as well as the recovery of the stolen Judea, Samaria, Gaza, & Golan Heights areas (not sure if Golan was designated by the Allies as Jewish settled land & part of 1948 Israel).

Big mistake. Also, did I tell you this is a big mistake. Also, a very big mistake. You are trying to appease a man who hates you. Now I'm beginning to feel that Bibi might hate you as well. They Arabs hate you and you simply cannot appease them. They want all of Israel. Look what happened to Gaza. Israel gives them Gaza and now they lob rockets on Israel. Nice trade huh. Who ever came up with that idea clearly couldn't not predict accurately and this has been the biggest mistake Israel has made. And it seems that you don't learn lessons very well.

The biggest mistake Israel has made, how about not pushing the arabs over the river after '67 or '73 war. How about Begin giving up the Sinai. How about not killing arafat when he was cornered in Beirut or leaving Gaza or the Oslo accords allowing arafat to come next door!!
Over the Jordan River into the country whose border had moved west and whose people (now overwhelmingly genocidal sub-insects) were left on Israel's side of the border; as well, over the border into Egypt, the clearly almost exclusively genocidal sub-nsect population of Arab Muslims of Gaza, both move which REMAIN Israel's international legal right; repatriation of a hostile population following a war victory.

This is a huge mistake. Obama does not like or respect either Israel or Mr Netanyahu. Remember what happened when the Israelis were forced out of Gaza. That resulted in even more rockets being fired at Israel. The palestinians can not be trusted, their aim is, and always has been to annihilate the Jewish people. As for obama, it is really a photo op for him to visit Israel, and he can`t be trusted either.
Netanyahu is out of his mind and giving in to Obama is a disaster for Israel as is the whole idea of allowing a Palestinian state. Benzion Netanyahu is turning over in his grave as will Israel if this Israeli Neville Chamberlain remains in power. Of course, Obama will not be satisfied until Israel and the US are destroyed thus fulfilling the "Dreams of his Father" and may he also rot in hell.

I also think it is a big mistake they are so greedy, they only just want more as they are never satisfied, until Israel is annihilated. should read Psalm 28, as they are a deceitfull people those Arabs.
Why does Israel have to make a nice gesture because of Obama's anticipated visit? Giving up land for peace hasn't worked before and it won't work now. Besides, a visit from Obama doesn't warrant such a generous gesture.
