UN General Assembly Votes in Favor of Palestine

With a vote of 138-9, with 41 abstentions, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of nonmember state status for “Palestine” on Thursday.

The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs has pointed out that the UNGA does not actually have the ability to recognize states, which is a power vested only in the UN Security Council, which rejected the PLO’s effort for upgrade last year.

So regardless of the UNGA vote, Palestine will still not be a state.

In fact, “The UN General Assembly does not have the power or the authority to establish states. Any such General Assembly resolution upgrading the Palestinian delegation would be no different from any other non-binding, recommendatory resolution of the General Assembly, and would have no legally binding status.”

Of course it does give them something. It will allow the Palestinian delegation to sit in the General Assembly hall, between Panama and Pakistan.

The following countries voted against the nonmember status change:

  • Canada
  • Czech Republic
  • Israel
  • Marshall Islands
  • Micronesia
  • Nauru
  • Palau
  • Panama
  • United States

    The Bible, Psalms 2:1-12
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed(believers in Jesus), saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king on my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD has said to me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you. Ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

There is a need to put a stop to the shambolic activities of the UNGA, before they destroy the UN. Is Palestine the only group agitating for statehood? What’s so important about the center of hate, terrorism, religious extremism, suicide bombing, death and destruction? Is the UNGA advocating that other groups seeking statehood follow the Palestinian example?

  3. Luba Pankiw Lallouz says:

Let's put it another way, today would have been Palestine's 65th birthday. The State of Palestine would have been 65 years old today if the UN partition plan of 1947 had been accepted by the Arab world. A just and lasting peace between two sovereign states is still prejudiced by the false narrative that Palestinians were the only refugees created in 1947. Let's not forget the hundreds of thousands of Jews who were uprooted and displaced from many arab countries – the FORGOTTEN EXODUS that has been both expunged and eclipsed from both the Middle East, peace and justice agenda for more than half a century. So what are the Palestinians celebrating today? They could have had PEACE 65 years ago and prospered just like Israel did! So what went wrong? If you ask me, when the were given their state, it wasn't enough, they WANTED IT ALL!

Let's not forget the murders of innocent Jews Arafat and his terrorists goons were responsible world wide and in Israel, and the murders of the Israeli Olympic team at Munich, and let's throw in the murderous Hamas TERRORISTS in there too! The list is too long to go through. WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

  4. Abraham Santiago says:

Now that the vote is in by the UN General Assembly endorsing Palestine as an observer non-member state, what will Israel do next? What options does Israel have since the Palestinians under President Mahmoud Abbas has circumvented direct negotiations with Israel and has gone directly to the UN? The final count was predicted, 138 in favor, 9 against and 41 abstentions. It is clear that the UN from the beginning favored the Palestinians. Here are a few options that Israel has on the table.
    1. Annex all of Judea and Samaria.
    2. Withhold monthly transfers of duties that Israel collects on the Palestinian Authority' permanently.
    3. Repopulate major historical cities like Jericho, Hebron, and Gaza begin to build settlements.
    4. Secure and control the temple mount area so Jews and Christians can have free access to worship.
    5. Gain access to open non-ownership land and make it accessible to new immigrants and build high tech industries.
    6. Secure the Philadelphia corridor and have complete control over it.
    7. Strengthen relationship with those who were against the UN vote.

  5. Sergio Lopes says:

Luba Pankiw Lallouz you did drive the nail into the matter. But there are other reasons as to why the Arabs (still not called Palestinians until 1967) did not accept the UN Partition plan. These reasons are to be found in Hamas Chart and I quote excerpts:

Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Moslem generations until Judgement Day.

This is the law governing the land of Palestine in the Islamic Sharia (law) and the same goes for any land the Moslems have conquered by force, because during the times of (Islamic) conquests, the Moslems consecrated these lands to Moslem generations till the Day of Judgement.

It is necessary to instill in the minds of the Moslem generations that the Palestinian problem is a religious problem, and should be dealt with on this basis.

"I swear by the holder of Mohammed's soul that I would like to invade and be killed for the sake of Allah, then invade and be killed, and then invade again and be killed." (As related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.

The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

If the above isn't a perpetual declaration of war, what then is?
