Rocket attacks launched from Syria ignite fires in the Galilee and the Golan Heights. Firefighting aircraft help ground crews extinguish the flames.

Israelis were sent racing for cover late Thursday afternoon as Code Red incoming rocket alert sirens wailed across the north.

According to the IDF Spokesperson, two rockets exploded in an open field in the Galilee Panhandle, igniting flames in the area. Two more rockets landed in a field in the Golan Heights, igniting a blaze there as well.

“Earlier today at least four rockets were launched from Syria at northern Israel,” Lt.-Col. Peter Lerner wrote in a post on social media. “Two of them exploded on the Golan Heights and two hit the Galil. No injuries were reported, but several fires ignited due to the impact.”

Several crews of firefighters battled the blazes and firefighting aircraft took to the skies to back them up as well.

No physical injuries were reported although several residents were traumatized by the attacks, which were fired from the Syrian side of the Golan Heights.
