Netanyahu to Tell Half the Truth and Gamble on the Consequences

“Truth or Consequences” was an old TV show. An entertainer performed a stupid stunt if he could not answer an equally stupid trivia question. Now Netanyahu and Obama are playing, but it is not a game.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu arrived in the United States Sunday morning on his way to diplomatic charades with President Barack Obama on a stage where each player suffers consequences for telling the truth.

The Prime Minister also is up against a media that, according to Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh, is full of lies almost across-the-board and especially when it comes to reporting on President Obama.

The president set the agenda in his speech to the United Nations last week, when he said that the Iranian nuclear threat and the Israeli-Palestinian Authority dispute are the two biggest issues threatening world peace.

When he puts a nuclear bomb in the hands of the Ayatollahs on the same scale as Israel’s effort to remain a state in the face of Palestinian Authority demands, and gets away with it thanks to a cooperative media, there is a limit as to what “truths” Netanyahu can tell. If Obama had told the truth and said that the PA is a pimple and that Iran is a cancer, the world might be better place, but he might lose his Nobel Peace Prize.

As Prime Minister Netanyahu boarded his plane late Saturday night, he said, “One must talk facts and one must tell the truth. Telling the truth today is vital for the security and peace of the world and, of course, it is vital for the security of the State of Israel.”

That is a tall order.

Newly-elected Iranian president Hassan Rouhani played out his script excellently in the United Nations, praising the United States as a “great nation” and calling for negotiations over its nuclear program.

Most media lapped up the speech and went ga-ga over the fact that the President of the United States of America spoke directly with an Iranian president on the telephone for 15 minutes for the first time in years.

That is the truth.

It also is just about equally meaningless, but as Hersh said in a weekend interview with the London Guardian, The New York Times spends “so much more time carrying water for Obama than I ever thought they would.”

Concerning the media in general, Hersh said, “It’s pathetic, they are more than obsequious, they are afraid to pick on this guy [Obama].

“They [media]… work out how to re-elect the president.

“Do you think Obama’s been judged by any rational standards? Has Guantanamo closed? Is a war over? Is anyone paying any attention to Iraq? Is he seriously talking about going into Syria? We are not doing so well in the 80 wars we are in right now, what the hell does he want to go into another one for. What’s going on [with journalists]?”

When it comes to covering Israel, Hirsh’s comments are an understatement. Whatever truths Netanyahu will say will be met with the comebacks already stored in the “Screw Israel” folder.

The Guardian “revealed” Sunday that Prime Minister Netanyahu will hand over to President Obama new evidence that Iran is on its way to the Big Bomb.

Been there, done that. Israel has been disclosing evidence for years, and it only encourages the chorus to sing “engagement at any cost.”

Given the White House’s fiasco after President Obama said he would attack the Assad regime because of its  use chemical weapons, the Prime Minister knows darned well that Obama will guarantee that Israel that it has nothing to worry about. The United States is behind Israel. All the way – until push comes to shove.

Thoroughly condemned, and correctly so, by the media for making the United States look like a pussycat against Assad and Russia, President Obama stumbled on “engagement” with Iran as the perfect antidote for his lost prestige, and the heck with Israel. He will cross that bridge when he comes to it – or he won’t.

On the Iranian issue, Netanyahu will tell the truth. It will be printed in the newspapers the following day and will quickly be used to wrap the fish.

Netanyahu will be challenged, correctly, with the accusations that Israel has nuclear weapons, which of course exist, and he will have to put on some zany stunt as payment for keeping it an open secret.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will not dare tell the truth about the Palestinian Authority, which announced on Saturday it has put Haiti and Grenada in its pocket, stuffed with more than 130 countries that it says now recognize it is a country.

The Prime Minister can try, but it won’t help much and probably would only make Israel look even worse in print.

Mahmoud Abbas, with the help of the media that Hersh attacked and with the help of Obama and his sidekick , U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, has manipulated himself into a suit-and-tie diplomat carrying a bomb camouflaged as an olive branch.

President Obama already has stated that the “Occupation” is an obstacle to peace, and Netanyahu’s calling settlers an “obstacle to war” is not going to help, even though it will be proven true if Israel ever has to carry out another expulsion such as it did in 2005 when it forced Jews out of Gaza and withdrew the army.

The best Netanyahu can do is hope that Hersh’s hope will come true.

“I have this sort of heuristic view that journalism, we possibly offer hope because the world is clearly run by total nincompoops more than ever … Not that journalism is always wonderful, it’s not, but at least we offer some way out, some integrity.”

But Netanyahu cannot tell the truth and say Obama is a nincompoop.

The American people need to take the democrat control of the senate and overturn it at the mid term elections and then begin the impeachment of Obama as quickly as they can.

    HERE IT IS:
    1. Suggest that Prime Minister Netanyahu invite Pres.Rouhani to Israel for face to face discussions in the spirit of Saddat-Begin. Prime Minister Netanyahu should emphasize that he would like nothing better than to personally work closely with President Rouhani as his partner for peace. He should emphasize a long list of items that the 2 countries could work on together to promote the interests of their citizens ; the interests of the Middle East,;the interests of the entire world. Medical research; energy research; agricultural research; water resources research etc.

    2. Prime Minister Netanyahu could announce that he too enthusiastically endorses a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction, terror and threats to the innocent civilians in all countries. That Israel would fully participate in such a comprehensive arrangement. He could welcome the Syrian relinquishment of chemical armaments as a 1st step. He could emphasize that Hezbollah missiles; Hamas missiles; support of terrorists, etc. would certainly have to be part of that package. Then, in the context of the UN speech he could raise why he is (and the world should be) concerned with the Iranian nuclear program by
revealing several aspects of the Iranian nuclear program that have nuclear weapons capability as their only possible use.

    3. Then Prime Minister Netanyahu could state "IT IS CRITICAL THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA FIRMLY ESTABLISH THE HIGH STANDARD NECESSARY TO ENSURE THAT ANY ARRANGEMENT (DEAL) IS AN ACTUAL BREAKTHROUGH, RATHER THAN A SYMBOLIC CHARADE. "

What does this mean in practice?

    A. Any Iranian nuclear deal must require ‘zero enrichment’ to close off Iran’s path to a nuclear bomb using centrifuges to produce weapons-usable high enriched uranium….

    B. Any Iranian nuclear deal must require ‘zero reprocessing’ to close off Iran’s path to a nuclear bomb using plutonium that could be separated from a reactor’s spent nuclear fuel…

.C . Any Iranian nuclear deal must require Iran to fully comply with its international obligations through ‘complete and total transparency’—that is, by allowing nuclear inspection activities far beyond those required by its NPT-required IAEA safeguards agreement.”

If President Rouhani will agree to these essential terms and get the rest of the Iranian establishment, led by Ayatollah Khamenei, to agree, then he is a true moderate who is interested in de-escalating the confrontation between Iran and the West.

if not, then President Rouhani can only be viewed by the world as using negotiations to buy time for the nuclear program to develop,..and then iran and the entire world will be the the losers..

    4. THEN A STRONG CLOSING , RINGING APPEAL (Style similar to Ronald Reagan…Mr. Krushev… tear down this wall)
"PRESIDENT ROUHANI …. I CALL UPON YOU TO JOIN WITH ME, WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA; WITH…. (INSERT A SHORT LIST),…. IN OUR STRUGGLE TO BRING PEACE TO THE PEOPLE of the MIDDLE EAST AND TO THE ENTIRE WORLD."

  8. Obama is a huge problem, but he is A problem, not THE problem. Hersh comes closer to identifying the CORE problem, and that is our totally corrupt media. Israel is simply going to have to hit Iran's nuke weapons program as soon as she can, as hard as she can, assuming that will set it back at least five years or more. This will take away Obama's main leverage in coercing Israel to submit to a PA terror state on her doorstep. It is a tall order, and I don't envy Bibi in having to make such a hard choice – and I certainly don't envy the rank and file Israelis who have to suffer the near-term consequences of such a course of action – but there it is. As to the media, I don't know what we can do about that here except to boycott them so that they collapse as business enterprises. Maybe they can be financially starved into being responsible again. That is all I can suggest for now.

When I read my Bible, I see how all of us who put our trust in man come out loosing. Is Israel putting their trust in the God of Abraham,Issac and Jacob? I pray that they will. He is their only hope. My country has turned their back on God, it cannot be trusted.

Hitler said it best" The Jews are our misfortune" Unfortunately, both Obama and the American Jewish Community believes in this outright lie.

  12. Bill Ellis says:

Here in America one of the most disturbing developments to come out of the debate about Syria is that the bulk of our political class is now on record that they are behind the neocon policy that we can not tolerate an Iranian A-bomb — and our press, left and right, has not objected or even questioned it one tiny bit.

They are acting as if there is nothing to debate–as if we will be compelled to stop it.

Under Bush North Korea got the bomb and the world complained and fretted. Why was NK getting a bomb tolerable one presidency ago, but Iran getting a bomb means we have start a war in the Persian gulf ? Who is nuttier than the Kim's ? What nation is more totalitarian than NK ?

The level of fear surrounding an Iranian nuke is completely out of line with the reality of the situation.
The 1st Use of nukes becomes irrational in situations of mutually assured destruction.(MAD) The leadership of Iran is as rational as any nation's. If history shows us anything about the Persians is that above all they are survivors.
Few nations have been screwed over by History's great powers as much as Iran has, yet- in the words of Curtis Mayfield– "they keep on keeping on".

I think the world would be better off if the great powers could not fight over it anymore…The Iranians certainly would be.

  13. looking at the photo above, Obama knows that Bibi is a better and a more honest person than he is himself, (not a christian) so of course he has to outdo Bibe, Hope and pray that the Lord G-d will be with the prime minister of Israel and strenghten him.
