Five rockets have been fired at northern Israel from Syrian territory in the past 11 days.

This is the third time in the past two weeks that an attack on Syrian airports has been attributed to Israel.

Both airports were disabled and are currently not functioning, forcing an Iranian aircraft that had already taken off from Tehran to turn around and retrace its route.

Iranian deliveries to Hezbollah via the Damascus Airport have reportedly failed due to repeated Israeli bombing of the facility.

The plane was diverted to the Russian airbase in Khmeimim, south-east of the city of Latakia, some 250 miles from Damascus by road.
