Lieberman Severs Ties with UN Human Rights Council, Blocks Entry of Investigating Team

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has announced that Israel had severed all working relations with the UN Human Rights Council as of Monday this week, and will block a U.N. fact finding team from entering Israel or Judea and Samaria to investigate Jewish settlements. Spokesman Yigal Palmor said this "means that we're not going to work with them. We're not going to let them carry out any kind of mission, including this probe."

New Hebron Settlement in House Near Cave of the Patriarch, Residents Say Purchase is...

One of the new residents of the dwelling told the Jewish Press that there is no indication of an impending eviction, but recognized that this could change quickly: "We are here legally, we adhered to the required procedures and paperwork, and our purchase is kosher...any eviction order will be politically-motivated, and not legally based."

High Court Rejects Migron Deal; Outpost Must Be Evacuated; Deputy Speaker Danon: ‘We Will...

The High Court on Sunday rejected the settlement deal between the State and the residents of the outpost Migron, allowing an extension of their evacuation date until August this year, and not next weekend, as was the original decision. But Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Danon threatens "If the court does not approve the Migron agreement, we will confirm it via primary legislation."

Migron Settlers Signed Evacuation Agreement ‘With a Gun to our Head’

Some 13 years after its establishment, and six years after the court case on the settlement's legality began, all the residents of Migron, a large outposts in Judea and Samaria, arrived Sunday night at their local synagogue and signed an affidavit to be submitted to the court, committing to leave their homes voluntarily and without any forced eviction in three and a half years.

A Haunting Visit To The Gush Katif Museum

“Tens of thousands visit here – ordinary Jews, educators and their students, Knesset members and government ministers, soldiers and their officers, members of European parliaments, and U.S. congressmen. And after their visits, something happens in the minds of all of them. Even left-wing Knesset members, with tears in their eyes, have written in the visitors’ book, ‘Never again!’ ”

This Is Our Land!

The destruction of Jewish homes in the Land of Israel continues, as if there is no way to prevent the State of Israel from self-destructing, no way to prevent it from sending the riot police to carry out the goals of Peace Now.

Remembering Hanan Porat

In May 1967 Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook spoke to his former Mercaz HaRav students at their annual Independence Day reunion in Jerusalem. Usually a festive day of celebration, this year was different. Rabbi Kook sorrowfully recalled his feeling of despair nineteen years earlier, when the State of Israel was born: "I was torn to pieces. I could not celebrate." Suddenly he cried out: "They have divided my land. Where is our Hebron? Have we forgotten it? And where is our Shechem? And our Jericho - will we forget them?"

Another UN Folly?

Later this month the United Nations General Assembly is likely to recognize the state of Palestine (which the United States is expected to veto in the Security Council). This diplomatic charade will ignore long forgotten, but far more consequential, international decisions.

Sorrow, Determination In Wake Of Itamar Horror

The ghastly discovery of her brutally murdered family will haunt 12-year-old Tamar Fogel for the rest of her life. Returning to her home in the Shomron settlement of Itamar from a friend's house late Friday night, Tamar found her parents and three of her siblings lying dead in pools of blood.

Tzipi Livni’s Irresponsible Opposition

Even a one- or two-month extension of Israel's ten-month settlement moratorium, senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat has announced, won't suffice. Nothing less than a total freeze throughout the duration of Israeli-Palestinian talks would be acceptable.

Netanyahu In Tight Political Bind Over U.S. Initiatives

JERUSALEM - Following reports of an unprecedented U.S. offer of a host of assurances in return for a 60-day extension of the settlement building freeze, some political analysts are wondering why Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not grabbed the deal with both hands.

Thinking Outside The Box

Earlier this month in Washington, Prime Minister Netanyahu bent over backward to placate President Obama and Palestinian Authority President Abbas. Urging everyone to "think outside the box," he called for a "historic compromise" between Israelis and Palestinians. Even before negotiations began, Netanyahu reassured Abbas: "You are my partner in peace."

Poll: Israelis Doubt Abbas, Support Settlement Construction

JERUSALEM - A pre-Rosh Hashanah New Wave poll commissioned by Israel's Channel 10 TV News found that Israelis are not only skeptical about the renewed peace process, they are demanding that Prime Minister Netanyahu renew settlement construction throughout Judea and Samaria when the building freeze comes to an end later this month.

The Early Jewish Community Of Charleston

The English first settled at Albemarle Point in what is now South Carolina in 1670. In 1680 this settlement was moved to a peninsula between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, and became Charles Town (named in honor King Charles II). The new location was more healthful than the original settlement, and, since it was behind the islands of a land-locked harbor, provided safety from attack. The name was changed to Charleston at the end of the War of Independence.

Bibi’s Slippery Slope

Senior American sources say that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already surrendered almost everything: the Golan, almost all of Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, and even some areas inside Israel's 1967 border - in order to retain a few settlement blocs. And what has Netanyahu achieved for Israel in exchange for this far-reaching agreement-in-principle? Nothing. Not peace, and not even international recognition that Israel is a Jewish state.

Time To Put ‘Peace Talks’ On Back Burner

Conspicuous for its absence in President Obama's State of the Union address was any mention of what is variously called the Arab-Israeli conflict or the Middle East peace process. Israeli analyst Yoram Ettinger suggests this "reflects a U.S. order of priorities and, possibly, a concern that mediation in the Arab-Israeli conflict does not advance - but undermines - Obama's domestic standing."

‘I Believe In Saying Exactly What I Think’: An Interview With Likud MK Danny...

The Likud's Danny Danon, named the member of Knesset "most loyal to the right-wing's agenda" in a recent survey, was in New York for September's convening of the UN General Assembly. He was on a mission "to ensure that the world understands the Likud Party and the people of Israel will not accept American pressure on settlement freezes or on construction in Jerusalem."

‘Netanyahu Lacks The Ability To Lead’: An Interview With MK Michael Ben Ari

A recent study by the nationalist organization Mattot Arim ranked Dr. Michael Ben Ari of National Union number two in terms of Knesset members "most loyal to the right-wing's agenda in the Knesset term that just ended." (The Likud's Danny Danon finished first.)

Israeli Settlements: Reality Vs. Hype

The Obama administration's high-profile focus on Israeli settlements and demand for a total freeze of construction beyond the pre-1967 armistice line have delighted many around the world, some of whom may even believe that settlements are the major obstacle to peace. But such views, like the administration's slant on the issue, are based on false premises and oft-repeated misinformation.

Jewish Groups Silent As Obama Calls For Settlement Freeze

WASHINGTON - Even as it publicly stakes out a hard-line position against Israeli settlement expansion, the Obama administration has so far avoided serious criticism from most U.S. Jewish groups and pro-Israel Democratic lawmakers.
