Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has announced that Israel had severed all working relations with the UN Human Rights Council as of Monday this week, and will block a U.N. fact finding team from entering Israel or Judea and Samaria to investigate Jewish settlements. Spokesman Yigal Palmor said this "means that we're not going to work with them. We're not going to let them carry out any kind of mission, including this probe."

One of the new residents of the dwelling told the Jewish Press that there is no indication of an impending eviction, but recognized that this could change quickly: "We are here legally, we adhered to the required procedures and paperwork, and our purchase is kosher...any eviction order will be politically-motivated, and not legally based."

JERUSALEM - A pre-Rosh Hashanah New Wave poll commissioned by Israel's Channel 10 TV News found that Israelis are not only skeptical about the renewed peace process, they are demanding that Prime Minister Netanyahu renew settlement construction throughout Judea and Samaria when the building freeze comes to an end later this month.

The English first settled at Albemarle Point in what is now South Carolina in 1670. In 1680 this settlement was moved to a peninsula between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, and became Charles Town (named in honor King Charles II). The new location was more healthful than the original settlement, and, since it was behind the islands of a land-locked harbor, provided safety from attack. The name was changed to Charleston at the end of the War of Independence.

The Likud's Danny Danon, named the member of Knesset "most loyal to the right-wing's agenda" in a recent survey, was in New York for September's convening of the UN General Assembly. He was on a mission "to ensure that the world understands the Likud Party and the people of Israel will not accept American pressure on settlement freezes or on construction in Jerusalem."

A recent study by the nationalist organization Mattot Arim ranked Dr. Michael Ben Ari of National Union number two in terms of Knesset members "most loyal to the right-wing's agenda in the Knesset term that just ended." (The Likud's Danny Danon finished first.)

The Obama administration's high-profile focus on Israeli settlements and demand for a total freeze of construction beyond the pre-1967 armistice line have delighted many around the world, some of whom may even believe that settlements are the major obstacle to peace. But such views, like the administration's slant on the issue, are based on false premises and oft-repeated misinformation.
