The Palestinian Authority has set its deadline for its desired withdrawal by Israel from all parts of Jerusalem and the entire regions of Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley that it is claiming for its hoped-for new state.
A draft resolution circulated by the PA to members of the United Nations Security Council calls on the body to require Israel to expel all of residents and military forces and transfer them within the 1949 Armistice Line by November 2016.
This would entail the expulsion of nearly 400,000 Jews from their communities, homes, businesses, fields and farms – not to mention the massive security risk involved as well.
In addition, the resolution drafted by the PA also calls for a “just resolution” of the status of Jerusalem as the capital of two states.
This would mean dividing the holy city of Jerusalem, abandoning the Western Wall and the Temple Mount, in addition to numerous other Jewish and Christian sacred sites as well.
The relevant territory was restored to the city of Jerusalem during the 1967 Six Day War – a defensive conflict in which Jordan’s occupying forces lost the city after attacking Israel – and was annexed by the Knesset as a means of reuniting Israel’s ancient capital in a legislative process following the conflict. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has stated unequivocally from the outset – as have other Israeli leaders – that the issue of Jerusalem is not negotiable.
The draft also calls for a “just resolution” of the issue of the “right of return” of more than five million so-called Palestinian refugees.
The PA is demanding that Israel absorb and allow the return of the Arab residents who once lived in the area prior to the establishment of the Jewish State and their millions of descendants. Some were forced to flee due to combat conditions and others simply left on their own initiative; a total of 700,000 residents left their homes.
Since that time, the figure has grown to five million-plus so-called “refugees” who continue to retain that status without ever having even seen the premises from which they are purported to have fled. They comprise the only group of refugees in the entire world ever to retain such a status throughout the generations and are aided and abetted in this endeavor by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, (UNRWA).
UNRWA continues to support the “refugees”and by doing so appears also to nurture a culture of helplessness and dependency in the generations of descendants in all the lands to which their ancestors moved.
But the real issue not about the details of the PA demands for the UN to force Israel to abandon its capital or its homes, and ti is not about allowing its Arab neighbors to carry out an ethnic cleansing without any resistance at all.
As Prime Minister Netanyahu said in his speech to the UN General Assembly on Monday, it’s about the real goal of Hamas – a terrorist group which is a full partner together with PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas in the unity government. Abbas has not denounced Hamas, nor has he abandoned it in any way – and the Hamas charter calls for the annihilation of the State of Israel and those who dwell within.
But that’s not all. Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal articulates very clearly that the goals of Hamas are precisely those of ISIS: “We say this to the West… By Allah you will be defeated. Tomorrow our nation will sit on the throne of the world.”
Israel’s prime minister reminded world leaders on Monday of those words, and reminded Americans of the destruction they witnessed just 13 years ago:
“Hamas has a broader objective. They also want a caliphate. Hamas shares the global ambitions of its fellow militant Islamists. That’s why its supporters wildly cheered in the streets of Gaza as thousands of Americans were murdered on 9/11. And that’s why its leaders condemned the United States for killing Osama Bin Laden, whom they praised as a holy warrior. So when it comes to their ultimate goals, Hamas is ISIS and ISIS is Hamas.
