Columbia University has been rated the higher education institution with the highest number of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel related incidents in 2016, according to the first annual list of The 40 Worst Colleges for Jewish Students.

The report, published by The Algemeiner, was based on four months’ researched according to editor-in-chief Dovid Efune. He added that New York University (NYU) didn’t do much better, rating as ninth worst on the list.

“The biggest predictor is the presence of a Students for Justice in Palestine group,” Efune told the New York Post.

Fourteen anti-Israel student groups were formed at the Ivy League school in 2016, and 127 professors, approximately 19 percent of the institution’s faculty, publicly supported the boycott, divest and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel which was outlawed for state-funded institutions by the New York State Legislature.

There were 32 anti-Semitic incidents reported at the school last year alone, averaging more than one every other week.
