The building is situated close to the main railway station in Switzerland’s financial capital.

The suspect, a man around 30 years old according to witnesses, managed to escape, wearing dark clothing and a dark wool cap.

The center is used as a mosque, often by Somalis, according to people at the scene.

Two-thirds of the Swiss population, some 8.3 million residents, identifies as Christian. But at least five percent of the population identifies itself as Muslim.
