Palestinian Media Watch Director Itamar Marcus Awarded Israel Media Prize

Sunday, February 8th, 2015

PMW director Itamar Marcus is to receive the Abramowitz Israel Prize for Media Criticism this month. Sponsored by Kenneth and Nira Abramowitz, the prize is awarded by Israel’s Media Watch.

The goal of the award is to encourage journalists, pundits, public figures and organizations to contribute toward a critical review of the media.

“One of the topics that the Israeli media is loath to cover seriously in the Palestinian Authority,” wrote Israel Media Watch chairman Eli Pollak and vice-chairman Yisrael Medad in describing the award.

“The Israeli media is dominated by those who believe that Israel’s future depends on the realization of the two-state vision. Our pundits describe PA President Mahmoud Abbas as a relative moderate, with whom one may cut a deal. This may be true or not, but the public deserves to know whether the facts support it.

“This is why Israel needs an organization such as Palestinian Media Watch. The organization, founded in 1996 by Itamar Marcus, has during the past two decades reported on the PA. Its material is available to all, yet the Israeli media is very loath to bring to the fore some of the egregious hate incitement in the PA, condoned by Abbas.

“This hate is not against the “occupation” per se, but is anti-Semitic. It encourages terrorism against Israelis and aggrandizes those who commit despicable crimes, such as killing infants in their beds, just because they were born to Israelis or “settlers.”

Why does the media ignore these warnings? One reason is that the idea of peace is so tantalizing that facts are not allowed to interfere. A more sinister motivation is racism – the Palestinians are not considered to be sufficiently civilized to be held to Western standards, and their behavior is discounted as that of primitives. Be it what it may, we at Israel’s Media Watch have found the Palestinian Media Watch and its founder and leader Marcus to be worthy of the media criticism prize this year.

Palestinian Authority Incitement: Israel Planned French Terror

Sunday, January 25th, 2015

The Palestinian Authority on Sunday called for “resistance” and boycott of all Israeli goods, capping off a campaign of promoting the blood libel that Israel planned the recent radical Islamic terror attacks in France.

Why would Israel do such a horrid thing? Why would Israel draft the Mossad to pay off Muslims to kill Jews and Christians in France?

Abbas and his Fatah movement have the answers: Aliyah of Jews from France and “revenge on European government…because of their positions on the Palestinian cause.”

Now that we know why 17 people were killed in three straight days of barbaric murder, we must remember that Secretary of State John Kerry has said over and over again the past several years that Abbas is against violence and does not incite his lone wolves to murder the sheep.

So how can it be that a recent poll of Arabs in Judea, Gaza and Samaria found that 84.4 percent of the respondents support the claim that “the operation (i.e., terror attack) was suspicious, and that Israel may be behind it,” while “only 8.7% believed that the murder of the French [citizens] in Paris was a natural result of the spread of Islamic extremism in Europe.”

The answer is that they read official Palestinian Authority media.

The official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported last week, as translated and published by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) today:

The Mossad, the Israeli Secret Intelligence Service, planned the attacks because Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders want to encourage Jewish immigration and take “revenge on European governments… because of their… support for… an independent Palestinian state.”

One regular columnist, Muwaffaq Matar, argued that because Netanyahu “wishes to realize the myth of the ‘Jewishness of Israel'” and encourage immigration, the attacks against Jews in France and elsewhere in Europe were “no coincidence, but a carefully executed and fully controlled plan.” He further argued that these claims were true because “‘Netanyahu’s Jewish State’ was the only one to benefit” from these attacks….”

Another regular columnist, Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, claimed that “Turkish sources, including intelligence and the mayor of Ankara,” determined that the attacks were “planned by the Israeli Mossad.”

The Palestinian Authority also used its official television network to tell viewers on January 12, in an interview with a journalist, that “in the past, the Israeli Mossad carried out operations (i.e., terror attacks): It bombed synagogues in order to force the Jews to emigrate.”

It gets even worse. Israel even trained the terrorists and gave them weapons, according to another writer for the daily.

Yahya Rabah wrote:

We have seen how Israeli terrorism in all its forms… is what grants patronage to all the terrorist groups in the region. Eventually, we have seen that terror[ists] have begun to receive training, weapons and perhaps [even] intelligence from Israel. Therefore, many believe that there was more to the last wave of terrorism in France than [just] two young Muslims. This was an [attempt to] target the role of France… [which voted] in favor of the Palestinian-Arab proposal at the [UN] Security Council last month!

Kerry can take pleasure in the fact that the Palestinian Authority officially condemned the attack on the Charles Hebdo magazine offices while letting a writer for its official daily write that the “unknown Charlie Hebdo magazine” had published “offensive cartoons” of the Prophet Mohamed “to get publicity and “extract itself from financial crises.”

None of this is a surprise to our readers.

But it is a surprise that the Obama administration still cannot come to terms with reality because doing so would be an admission that it has been hoodwinked for 20 years by a two-faced monster that has conned successive American governments and the State Dept., which still insists that none of this would have happened if Israel simply would follow the Arab world’s orders and stop insisting on Zionist demands, such as remaining a Jewish state and protecting its citizens from terror.

Palestinian Authority TV Blames ‘Occupation’ for Killing Har Nof ‘Martyrs’ [video]

Tuesday, November 25th, 2014

Palestinian Authority television went off the planet last week by telling its viewers that the “occupation” forces killed two “martyrs, and the news report did not even mention the “martyrs'” massacre of Jews praying in a synagogue.

Even for Palestinian Authority media lies, the report set a new low for lies and incitement in relating events of the barbaric murders that shocked the world, even the U.S. State Dept.

In addition, Palestinian Authority Arabs now know that all of the hit-and-run attacks killing and wounding Jews, including a three-month-old baby, were “accidents,” but the cruel “occupation” police killed the drivers anyway,

For anyone who has the stomach to read the transcript of the television report, translated and published on Tuesday by the Palestinian Media Watch, here it is.

Don’t say you have not been forewarned.

PA TV newsreader:

Here are the most prominent attacks Israel carried out against our people in ‎occupied Jerusalem in October: The death of Abd Al-Rahman Al-Shaloudi as a Martyr [terrorist ‎who ran over and murdered two Jews]. He was shot by the occupation after a car accident.

The death of ‎Mutaz Hijazi as a Martyr [terrorist who tried to murder Rabbi Yehuda Glick] and the wounding of other ‎‎[Palestinians] by shots fired by the occupation police in Silwan…

And in November, the death of ‎Ibrahim Al-Akari as a Martyr [terrorist who ran over and murdered two people] in Sheikh Jarrah after a run-over ‎incident…

The latest reaction to Netanyahu’s policy and means was the death of 2 Palestinians as ‎Martyrs [terrorists who murdered four Jews in synagogue and a Druze policeman] from occupation police fire in West Jerusalem.

PMW set out the facts for the record.

Ibrahim Al-Akari was a Hamas terrorist from eastern Jerusalem who carried out a terror attack by car on November 5 at a light-rail station in Jerusalem, killing two and injuring at least 14 others. He was shot and killed ‎by Israeli police officers who arrived on the scene.‎

Abd Al-Rahman Al-Shaloudi drove his car into a light-rail station in ‎Jerusalem on October 22, killing three-month-old Israeli-American Haya Zissel-Brown and Karen Mosquera, 22, of ‎Ecuador, and injuring seven others. He was shot by police while attempting to flee the scene, and he later died ‎of his wounds.‎

Mutaz Hijazi was a Islamic Jihad member and released prisoner who attempted to assassinate Rabbi ‎Yehuda Glick, a prominent activist working to assure rights for Jews to visit and pray on the Temple ‎Mount, on October 29. The assassination attempt took place following a conference on establishing ‎times and places for Jews to pray on the Temple Mount. Glick was seriously wounded in the attack; ‎Hijazi was killed soon afterwards when he opened fire on an Israeli police force attempting to ‎arrest him.‎

Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal carried out the Jerusalem synagogue murders last Tuesday ‎when they entered a synagogue in Jerusalem and attacked worshippers with guns, knives and axes, ‎killing four of them and a police officer. Seven others worshippers were wounded, three of them seriously.

The terrorists ‎were killed in an exchange of fire with police who arrived on the scene.

PA Children’s TV Shows Why Peace Process Means Wiping Israel off the Map [video]

Monday, October 20th, 2014

Official Palestinian Authority television again is teaching children that “Israel is our land – the 1948 lands” at the same time Mahmoud Abbas foams at the mouth for “two states for two peoples.”

Perhaps he means one state of Hamas and one for Fatah.

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has translated and published the script of an official PA television children’s show broadcast on October 4.

This is not new. PMW for years has exposed the two-faced act of the Palestinian Authority, but except for several Congressmen who are not deaf and blind, no one in the Obama administration, let alone the United Nations and European Union, questions Abbas’ sincerity that he wants to make peace with Israel “along its 1967 borders.”

A boy who was a guest in the PA television how said to the host, “I have never entered Israel or Gaza.”

“What Israel? It’s our land,” responded the host.

The lad corrected himself and replies, ”Israel is our land – the 1948 lands.”

My, he is such a quick learner!

The host didn’t take any chances and reminded him, “It’s our land, occupied Palestine.

“Our land, occupied Palestine. It’s Haifa, Jaffa [and] Acre. These are our occupied lands, the 1948 lands that Israel occupied in 1948. Israel occupied them in 1948. These are Palestinian lands and will remain Palestinian. Allah willing, they will return to us some day and will not be under the rule of the occupation.”

If that is the case, the Palestinian Authority denies even the borders for Israel that the United Nations drew up when it recognized Israel as state.

Haifa and Jaffa were part of the severed and miniscule country that was proposed but never accepted by the Arab world, which went to war and finally had to settle for a larger Israel until the next war, which it again lost.

Abbas knows he can not eliminate Israel with guns, so he has craftily built on international anti-Semitism and the naïve American-led peace process to sell a poisonous portion of snake oil.

Time will tell if Abbas wins support from a two-thirds majority on the U.N. Security Council to accept the Palestinian Authority as a member of the United Anti-Zionist Nations.

Either way, historians one day will scratch their heads trying to figure out why European countries, led by supposedly intelligent people, declare themselves as friends of Israel while recognizing a Palestinian Authority that teaches its children that Israel does not exist.

The explanation, if there is one, may be the same as why Chamberlain believed Hitler.

Fatah’s Gaza Branch Making Rockets to Use before Next Cease-Fire [video]

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

Gaza’s branch of Fatah, Hamas’ rival terrorist party headed by Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas, showed off its continuing rocket-manufacturing capabilities for visiting Russian journalists, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported.

Fatah invited Russian TV (RT) last week to a rocket production facility to witness and film the actual production of new rockets. Fatah’s military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, depleted its reserves while taking an active part in the Gaza war alongside Hamas, firing rockets at Israeli towns and cities:

“The moment the war ended, the Palestinian military wings renewed military production in order to replenish the stock, which was emptied during the war,”  according to an Arab journalist for RT, quoted by Fatah on its Facebook page.

A Fatah video, as seen below, shows Fatah members at work producing new rockets, and a masked Fatah terrorist explained, “We are preparing and developing rockets in the productions’ division of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – Al-Asifa Army following the ceasefire agreement in preparation for the coming battles.”

The Palestinian Authority does not want another cease-fire unless it has plenty of rockets on hand to make sure that the truce is temporary. Terrorists in Gaza, like those in the Judea and Samaria who received thousands of rifles from Israel in the 1990s to keep the peace as part of the Oslo Accords, never store their weapons for a long period of time. Their idea of “defense” is to use them to attack Israel, whose existence is considered an offensive act.

The journalist added that Fatah is making rockets because the partial blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt interferes with efforts to smuggle weapons into Gaza.

Of course, Israel could put an end to all smuggling simply by removing the maritime blockade. Then, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas and all of the other terrorist groups simply could bring in weapons at will in response to the “humanitarian gesture” by Israel.

Fatah’s activity in the war, in which it lost 17 times more members than those identifying with Hamas, is a sign that Fatah and Hamas have achieved unity in the area of terror, if not on the diplomatic front.

A Sept. 10 Fatah post, translated and published by PMW, quoted the RT reporter as stating. “We are visiting the Al-Aqsa Brigades – Al-Asifa Army (i.e., Fatah’s military wing)… where fuel for rockets and mortar shells is being produced.”

An Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades fighter added, “We are preparing and developing rockets in the productions’ division of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – Al-Asifa Army following the ceasefire agreement in preparation for the coming battles. During the last war, we fired rockets at the Zionist enemy. We have notified the enemy that we have many more [rockets]. We have also successfully developed the K-132 rocket, which is here beside me.”

Abbas’ Fatah Movement Brags It Killed 11,000 Israelis

Monday, August 11th, 2014

Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah is challenging those who try to minimize its leadership role in the Palestinian conflict with Israel by ignoring any actions that seek peace with Israel and instead  promoting only actions of violence and terror.

It even made the fictitious claim that its attacks have killed 11,000 Israelis.

The faction head by Abbas, who has been crowned by the Obama administration as the best friend for Israel since Yasser Arafat, not only did not mention the Oslo Accords but also boasted that one of members of the Palestinian Authority security force, given weapons by Israel to fight terror, infiltrated into a Jewish community near Gaza.

One of the actions it bragged about was being the “first Palestinian faction to reach the [Israeli] nuclear reactor,” which is actually a reference to a bus hijacking and murder of three Israeli civilians on their way to work at the nuclear plant.

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has documented a post this week on Fatah’s Facebook page celebrating and bragging about Fatah’s murder of Israeli civilians:

“Listen well! To whoever does not know Fatah and argues with this giant movement: Fatah has killed 11,000 Israelis,” the Facebook post states in a translated version on PMW’s website.

“Fatah has sacrificed 170,000 Martyrs (Shahids).

“Fatah was the first to carry out operations [terror attacks] during the first Intifada, and it was the first Palestinian faction to reach the nuclear reactor in Dimona [sic].

“Fatah was the first to fight in the second Intifada [also known as the Oslo War]….

(Baha Al-Sa’id, an officer in the Preventive Security Forces, infiltrated an Israeli settlement on the border with Gaza) [parenthesis in source]…

“Fatah was the first to defeat the Zionist enemy (Battle of El-Karameh) [parenthesis in source]…

“Fatah led the Palestinian attack on Israel in the UN

“Fatah leads the peaceful popular resistance against Israel…

“Stop and think before you attack [Fatah].”

Suicide Bombers Being Trained to ‘Dress Like Jews’

Wednesday, August 6th, 2014

Suicide bombers are once again being trained to dress like Orthodox Jews in preparation for carrying out mass casualty attacks in Israel, while Palestinian Arab factions are sitting in Cairo talking with Israeli representatives about a proposal to stop the war in Gaza.

Last month both Hamas and Fatah — the two main partners in the Palestinian Authority unity government — urged Arabs to carry out suicide bombings against Israel.

Although one faction is based in Gaza and the other in Ramallah, both have military terror divisions that carry out attacks against Israel. Only Hamas is recognized by the United States as an official terrorist organization, however.

According to a clip translated by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) organization, PA TV viewers were treated to a poem written by Palestinian ‘national poet’ Mahmoud Darwish, which was used as part of a program to demonize Israel as an enemy targeting women and children.

The phrasing could be interpreted as encouraging suicide bombing, but some literature analysts say the deeper meaning of the poem is actually a critique on suicide bombings.

The words chosen for inclusion in the program by PA TV seemed to present suicide bombing positively – literally as an expression of life – but as writers well know, it is easy to take words out of context and to twist them to one’s own personal use.

Thus did PA TV use the words of Darwish:

“She wraps her waist with dynamite and explodes… It is neither death… nor suicide… It is Gaza’s way to declare its right to life.”

The video demonizes Israel as an enemy targeting women and children and concludes that suicide terror will go on:

“She shall continue to explode.  It is neither death nor suicide.”

When one reads the entire poem – “Silence for Gaza” — one sees clearly the Darwish was not referring at all to suicide bombers or terror but rather to a much broader image of the enclave and its people.

Likewise, Fatah also called on its people to launch missiles at Israel; as late as Monday night, just prior to the cease fire, two of the faction’s military arms joined with other terror groups in Gaza in doing so.

On Hamas TV, viewers were urged to dress up like Jews and carry out suicide bombings – in fact, they were even shown how to do it.

A Hamas video showed a terrorist putting on a suicide explosives belt, and then donning the clothing of a stereotypical, bearded Orthodox Jewish civilian. He is then seen escorted by his handler to the exit and sent on his way to commit a suicide bombing.
