The Jewish Congressman who became the darling of the left wing of the Democratic party but not so much with his district (he served only one term), who, in 2009, defined the Republican’s idea of health care plan as, "Don’t get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly," may require some serious health care himself. Last Saturday he ran a red light with his car, smashed into a bus and injured two people.

Punning might be the most annoying form of art save for mime (a punning mime, now that would be hateful). Check out the Monday NY Post (a paper known for outrageous punning, not enough mime) for verification. They claim that an outfit named Urban Nosh, which got its start making Matzel Toff, a chocolate-covered matzah, is adding a new, year-round version of the same dubious treat, called Matzel Bits, and are also conspiring to launch yet another new product, called Holy Macaroons. Help…?

We knew the Israeli economy was in good shape, but this is ridiculous. Well, not if the shekel in question was minted just under 2000 years ago.  The ancient Jewish coin was sold for $1.1 million (a record) at the Heritage Auctions house in Manhattan. It’s a silver shekel from 66 AD, and was bought […]

The Sunday Daily Mail features a colorful spread on fashion designer, owner of the Max Studio upmarket fashion chain, Leon Max, or Leonid Maxovitch Rodovinksi, "one of a clutch of rich Russians buying up chunks of Britain." The piece recalls another billionaire, Roman Abramovich, who bought the London Chelsea soccer team. But instead of buying soccer clubs, Max has purchased "a spectacularly beautiful English stately home." Love those Jews and their wonderful money…

The Palestinian Ma’an news agency reports that Gaza’s sole power station was shut down on Saturday evening due to lack of fuel supplies. It is the third closure in the past month. Reuters reports that on Saturday the U S drone attacks killed at least 25 al-Qaida fighters, including one commander, while a Yemeni air force raid killed 20 more in the south, sources said on Saturday. IDF Chief of Staff: "We will respond aggressively to every rocket launch against Israel."

Ex Mossad chief Meir Dagan often adds flare to his public statements. But don't let that fool you, he is a cool and reliable thinker, who undoubtedly was behind the sabotage efforts which caused Iran's nuclear program numerous mishaps and delays. But his flare and colorful speech are fodder for eager editors who misrepresent what the retired spy is actually saying. In fact, they often not only twist his words, they go as far as to invent new words for him, born by nothing more than wishful thinking and an agenda.

It may be only a "gotcha," but it probably reflects a reality nonetheless. In her attempt to bolster Jewish trust in President Obama's commitment to Israel's security in light of Iran's nuclear threats, Fla. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is also the DNC Chair and a close Jewish ally of the president, betrayed some of the pressures she's under in her own circle, because, let's face it, her fellow Jews don't trust her boss. And come the Passover seder, they'll probably give her (and husband Steve) an earful...
