Jacob Ostreicher remains locked up at Palmasola Prison in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. That notorious facility was designed to hold 1,000 prisoners, but is currently home to 3,500. Unlike U.S. facilities, this prison is essentially run by the prisoners. Guards provide food and make sure prisoners do not escape, but do nothing to maintain order within the prison’s walls.

Following a Knesset vote on the “Regulation Law” intended to prevent the evacuation of the Ulpana Neighborhood in Beit El, Ulpana residents and others supporting the law broke up in angry protest. Police, on horseback and on foot, acted brutally to subdue what was, essentially, a loud protest.

The Knesset on Wednesday rejected the proposed bill to save the Ulpanah Hill neighborhood, which was ordered by the High Court to be demolished at the end of this month. In a preliminary reading, the Knesset voted the bill down by 69 to 22.

Gideon Ezra, Former Deputy Head of Shin Bet, Cabinet Minister, and MK, Dies at 74

House Rejects Iran ‘Containment,’ Ignoring Peace Now Plea
